History of Coca-Cola

The World of Coca Cola wouldn’t be possible without the Atlanta Pharmacist, Dr. John Pemberton, who invented Coca-Cola in 1886. The beverage started as a fountain drink and was served only in Atlanta, Georgia. But shortly after the death of Dr. Pemberton, the new owner of the Coca-Cola shares, Asa Chandler, decided it was time to bring the product beyond Georgia state lines, and to do so he began bottling Coca-Cola.

Due to competition in the beverage industry, Chandler knew the model of the bottle had to be distinct. After the design was approved, the bottle’s shape was so unique consumers could recognize it in the dark. The bottle shape has evolved with time and so has Coca-Colas advertisements. Its new slogan, “Open Happiness” captures the intent of Coca-Cola, which is to sit back, relax and take a moment out of your day to enjoy yourself, especially at The World of Coca Cola, Atlanta.

The Coca-Cola Loft

This is where the Coca-Cola treasure is hidden in The World of Coca Cola. Throughout the years, Coca-Cola has become a symbol that nearly everyone in the world recognizes. Coca-Cola artifacts have been collected from the very beginning of the company. The Coca-Cola Loft in The World of Coca-Cola, Atlanta has the largest collection of the most famous and important Coca-Cola artifacts from all over the globe.

Taste It

Just because you can’t tour the entire world, that doesn’t mean your taste buds have to stick around. Visit the “Taste It” room in The World of Coca-Cola, Atlanta. You’ll make your way to five tasting stations with over 60 different products. The stations are arranged geographically and a sixth station features Coca-Cola classic brands. 125 Years of Coca-Cola

Although the World of Coca-Cola is a place to celebrate the history of the iconic product, it’s also about praising the impact of Coca-Cola today. To uphold this intention, The World of Coca-Cola, Atlanta has a pop culture room that rotates exhibits.

Right now, Steve Penley, a Georgia artist has the honor of displaying his work in this space. In honor of the 125^th anniversary of Coca-Cola, Penley created a 48-foot mural. Through a unique series of seven paintings, unique moments in Coca-Cola’s history are uniquely and artistically displayed. There is no doubt that this piece is a tribute to the success of the international soda.
